Title

Free Labor Produce

Description

Can you tell us, Mr. Editor, where and on what terms we can purchase sugar, molasses and coffee; the proceeds of free labor. I use from two to three barrels of sugar, a barrel of molasses and a bag of coffee in my family per year, and feel unwilling to contribute that little to the support of slavery.
It is said that the new tariff levies a tax of two cents per pound on foreign sugar for the benefit of the slave-holder. By southern doctrine, we of the free states pay on every pound of sugar we use two cents per pound to help the slave-holder and put off for a little longer the universal bankruptcy of the south.
Let us hear what you can tell us on this subject.

There is no Free Produce store in Cincinnati but there ought to be one. We have been repeatedly interrogated on this subject. Were such a store established here, we doubt not, it would receive a large patronage, and yield a fine profit to its keeper. We do hope some one will adventure. If any one is so disposed, and has the capital, we can put him on a train, by which he can ascertain what he may calculate upon.
